Our Story The Galileo Teacher Leadership Consortium was launched in 1997 with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and is sustained by the Consortiums organizations, foundations, local businesses, and industries. The Consortium provides a teacher leadership program for educational organizations in Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties. The organizations superintendents serve on the Consortium Board. The academy's curriculum reflects the Teacher Leader Model Standards.
The Galileo Teacher Leadership Consortium includes a board of directors, a two year academy, an Alumni Board, and Leaders Leading Leaders organization. Currently, there are over 1,000 Galileo alumni in various leadership positions across our state and 120 Galileo teacher leaders in the 2019-2020 academy. The academy is the first phase of involvement in the Consortium. Our impact and influence continue to evolve every year as we collaborate to ensure high levels of learning for all. Curious Learners and Courageous Leaders create educational change through their passion, collaboration, and continuous learning. |

Year 1During the first year of the Teacher Leadership experience personal identities are discovered and celebrated. Impact within personal learning spaces are examined and enhanced using the design thinking model. A collaborative design thinking learning challenge is experienced with educators in job-a-llike collaborative groups based on Hattie's research on collective efficacy.

Year 2In year 2 of the Galileo experience, teacher leaders look beyond their learning spaces and examine the impact of a system. During this time, leaders are engaged in interviews with their superintendents to better understand how the system works together. Teacher Leaders are also experiencing Project Based Learning, conversations about equity and impacting learning for all across the system.
Opportunities beyond year 2 include leadership opportunities in districts, alumni board involvement and alumni collaboration, and much more. |
